Tour information
Come aboard our beautifully restored heritage boat, Second Snark, and enjoy an amazing day out on the water with close up views of Dunstaffnage Castle, Castle Stalker,Tirefour iron age broch on the Island of Lismore and Barcaldine Castle and Beregonium.
Sailing out of Dunstaffnage Marina near Oban you'll meet the marine wildlife as you go, getting up close to some amazing scenery. Each of the castles we visit has an amazing story to tell as well as an impressive location and we'll fill you in on the facts as we go.
Dunstaffnage Castle is one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland, dating back to around 1220. Sail up close to the dramatic location in the Firth of Lorn for a stunning view of the castle from the sea.
Castle Stalker has a pictureque setting on its own tiny tidal island on Loch Laich, an inlet off Loch Linnhe.
Tirafour Iron Age Broch has an impressive setting on the lovely island of Lismore. Older by far than the other castles, these ancient walls were built 2000 years ago.
Barcaldine Castle is a 17th century fairytale castle on the shores of Loch Creran, with views to magnificent Glen Coe.
The tour also takes in Beregonium or Dun Mhic Uisneachan, between Loch Etive and Loch Creran, not exactly a castle but an ancient city of the Picts.
We're certain that the best way to really capture the atmosphere of these ancient locations is to visit by boat!
