Exploring the Caledonian Canal by bike is one of the best ways to experience the Great Glen and all it has to offer, that's why we've teamed up with our friends at Rockhopper and Scottish Canals to make it easy for you.
To fully appreciate all that this wonderful destination has to offer, this is an ideal activity to go at your own pace, soak up the scenery and get the family active outdoors. There's so much to see for children from exploring rocks by the water to spotting wildlife and insects and most of the cycling is very easy, flat terrain. Don't forget to stop for a pic-nic en route or even just to admire the total peace and tranquility of the area.
There's a whole host of cycle routes for you to explore close to the canal, and whether you're looking to go for a short lunch time cycle or for a full day adventure we have an option and cycle route to suit.
HALF DAY EXPERIENCE
Available every day! This is deal for young families due to the safe, flat cycle paths. Distance is 6 miles and flat all the way on the canal path with the added benefit of being totally free from traffic.
This ticket includes a 1 hr, one way canal cruise then 2 hrs bike hire
Possible routes:
Depart Banavie, sail to Gairlochy and cycle back to Banavie = total time approx 3 hours
FULL DAY EXPERIENCE
If you're feeling a little more adventurous why limit yourself?
This ticket includes a 3 hr return canal cruise from Banavie, departing at 1000hrs then allows the afternoon to explore the cycle paths of the Great Glen at your leisure.
DONT FORGET .....
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your cruise departs, make your way to the Rockhopper hub at Banavie to pick up your bikes before boarding the boat.
For morning half day hires all bikes should be returned by 1300, afternoon bike hires should be returned by 1630. For full day hires, bikes should be returned by 1630.

Arrive Banavie 1630 Please note - it is possible to do a 1hr, one way sail from Banavie to Gairlochy or a 3 hr, round trip from Banavie out onto Loch Lochy returning via Gairlochy to Banavie. Only the 3 hr trip will include a lock. -

Our cruises depart from Banavie near Fort William. Look for Neptune’s Staircase and the popular Moorings Hotel and we are right at the top lock just a minutes walk from the hotel. For Sat Nav the nearest post code would be PH33 7YL
